Comedic Storyteller James Judd Offers Tips of His Trade

Direct from NPR’s Snap Judgment, comedic storyteller James Judd worked with a group of Town of Clayton representatives in a masterclass this afternoon, offering tips on how to hone your public speaking skills.

James is in town to headline the fifth show in The Clayton Center’s Palladian Series tomorrow night – Friday, March 22, at 8 PM. He will be joined by fellow Snap Judgment alum Jen Kober.

James is often compared to David Sedaris and Oscar Wilde. The comedian, author and radio personality connects with audiences as he shares stories of his exploits, including his “spectacular public embarrassments and utter failures.” A former member of the legendary Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings, Judd’s projects include a critically acclaimed solo show and TV appearances on Star Search and Evening at the Improv. He is the winner of NPR’s Snap Judgment 2015 Comedic Performance of the Year Award.

Jen Kober, whose telling of her Girl Scout Cookie story won her the 2016 Snap Judgment Comedic Performance of the Year Award, brings crowds to their feet with her original blend of stand-up, storytelling and improvised rock-n-roll comedy. Kober’s powerful performances weave together a southern-style tale of love lost at the buffet, road trip adventures at The Waffle House and midnight mishaps at Wal-Mart. She can also be seen on TV in The Mindy ProjectCurb Your EnthusiasmThe Middle and The Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart. Movies include Grudge Match, Paranoia and American Pie: Reunion.
